Fragments Reimagined. Chaos Reshaped.

A detective. An artist. A musician. Goran Šoštarić transforms discarded instruments into sculptures, raw emotions into paintings, and silence into sound. Every piece tells a story—of chaos, order, and the space between.

The meeting of two personalities, conscious and unconscious, is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

Such a reaction is necessary, inevitable. Yet life often obstructs it, keeping us from the privilege of becoming who we truly are.

Back when Goran Šoštarić first stepped into the world of crime investigation, he understood that to confront the darkness of others, he had to first confront his own. Walking the thin line between order and chaos, between justice and the human condition, he came to see the world not in absolutes, but in shades of light and shadow.

Born in Lepoglava, Croatia—a town known for its maximum-security prison—Goran’s path into law enforcement may have seemed preordained. But it wasn’t the walls of the penitentiary that shaped him; it was the relentless drive to carve something meaningful from the raw material of existence. To make the world, if not perfect, then at least bearable. Safer. More honest.

Empathy is not just understanding someone else’s pain—it’s feeling it, seeing yourself reflected in their struggle. To recognize the capacity for both light and shadow within yourself is to understand it in others. Judgment fades, replaced by a deeper awareness given the right (or wrong) circumstances, anyone could be anything.

Tool’s lyrics echo the same sentiment: Overthinking, overanalyzing separates the body from the mind.

To suppress the unconscious, to deny its pull, is to be led by unseen forces and call it fate.

Art became Goran’s way of making the unconscious conscious. Of reclaiming the discarded, the forgotten, the broken. Sculpting old guitars into something new—melding music, memory, and raw material into forms that tell their own untamed stories. His work is transformation incarnate, an alchemy of rust and resonance, distortion, and rebirth.

Like the grunge movement that found beauty in imperfection, Goran’s art embraces the jagged edges of existence. He does not create to entertain but to reveal—to himself and to others. His sculptures, his paintings, his music with Izvan Zakona—they are echoes of a restless mind seeking balance in the tension between structure and chaos.

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.

Through his art, Goran chooses something different. Not fate, but awareness. Not control, but transformation.
